A Lilac Dress

It was an idle Saturday afternoon. Chad and I were walking and looking around in Queensbay after having our lunch in a restaurant in the mall. We stopped – right in front of a boutique. I was stunned, standing in front of a huge glass wall — a lilac coloured dress, together with a white cardigan, was put on a modal standing behind the glass wall, “New Arrival” it says.

He quickly dragged me into the boutique, before I turned to him, saying how beautiful that dress was and I was really, really want it. Still holding my hand, we walked around the boutique, not knowing what he was doing. Finally, we stopped. He let my hand off and went to a worker. I looked at him, guessing what he was doing. After seconds, he came towards me, holding that lilac dress, the one I saw at the glass wall. He tucked it to both my arms and pushed me into a fitting room, asking me to try it on.

Chad was looking at me with a broad smile when I came towards him from the fitting room, wearing the dress that he asked me to put on. He gently put his hands on my shoulders and said, “Beautiful… You’re the most beautiful girl in the whole world…” My eyes were blinking. “No one else can wear such a beautiful dress,” he continued, drawing me nearer towards him. “I love you, dear,” he whispered. “Be mine.”

I smiled. He really loves me, I thought. At the moment he drew me to his chest and hugged me, my mind was recalling how he loved me and how he cared of me. Throughout the five years he always gave me surprises during my birthday and Valentine’s Day every year; he visited me, helped me to do house works and cooked porridge for me whenever I was ill… He loved me, and I loved him, too. I thought our love would not be expired and we would live happily ever after.

Until one day, during lunch time, when me and a few of my colleagues were having our lunch in a cafeteria in my working place, one of my best friends, Chloe, appears. She walked towards us, showing us her broad, charming smile. To my astonishment, she was wearing a lilac coloured dress, together with a white cardigan, exactly the same as the one that Chad had bought for me.

“My God, isn’t she’s Chloe? Hi Chloe!” One of my colleagues exclaimed.

“Hi Chloe! We didn’t see you for months!” Greeted another one.

“How was your holiday? You looked so pretty today!” asked a skinny lady, she was my colleague as well.

“How was your holiday in Europe?” finally I asked.

“It was great! We’d done a lot of sight seeing, and I love Paris very much! I wish I could live there,” said Chloe excitedly. “And look at this dress, Phoeb, isn’t it beautiful? My boyfriend bought this for me in a boutique when we’re in Paris, he said I looked beautiful when I wear this, he said I’m the most beautiful girl in the whole world and no one else can wear such a beautiful dress like this. He’s really lovely!”

“It really suits you well, Chlo,” I said in a hypocritical smile.

Everything on my plate was tasted sour. Everything was tasteless for me. I was not happy that she had the same dress as mine, and I was not happy too for the way she got that dress was also same as mine, though I didn’t voiced out, both in verbal and non-verbal. I know she was my very close friend and shouldn’t feel unhappy of her in such an irrelevant way; I don’t want that feeling, either. But I didn’t know why I had such a feeling, it was uncontrollable, it just came out like that.

“Well it’s normal,” the inner ‘me’ whispered to me. “You still own a man who really loves you.”

About two weeks later, I received a call from Chad. He was just back for outstation from Europe.

“Are you free this evening?” he asked, he tone was unusual compared to the last days.

“Yeah, sure.”

“Then we meet in Starbucks. 6pm.”

“Alright, see you there!”

I arrived at Starbucks at 5:45pm, with my favourite dress — a lilac coloured dress, together with a white cardigan. I chose a seat that was near to the glass window and ordered a glass of latte and a piece of Tiramisu — our favourite order whenever we were in Starbucks. While nibbling the cake, I was recalling the happy days with him — in the cinema, at the beach, in my house, and many places.

I was there alone for one hour, waiting him, and he didn’t appear, yet. I started giving myself reasons, avoiding myself complaining. “Maybe he’s stuck in a traffic jam.”

Suddenly I saw a couple were holding their arms together, walking towards me, I knew them very well. One is Chloe; she was wearing a lilac coloured dress, together with a white cardigan, exactly the same as mine — the one I was wearing and the one that Chad had bought for me. The guy next to her is ——— Chad.

Still smiling, they took a seat, facing towards me. I could both of them wearing rings, their sparkling rings hurts my eyes. Chloe opened her latest Gucci handbag, took an envelope out and gave it to me. I opened it, it was an invitation card.

“Give you a good news. We’re going to be married next month.” She announced happily, and then smiled at Chad. He smiled at her too, then he turned to me, giving a disgusting, evil smile.

I really wanted to pour my latte to his face and shouted at him, “You liar! We’re over!” but I didn’t. I was just giving a cold, hypocritical smile. “Oh really? Seriously? Congratulations.”

Silence filled around us for seconds.

“Em... Sorry... I’ve something to do. Goodbye.” My voice was trembling. I left the cafe steadily and began to run. Tears were with me at that moment.

I resigned by using “continuing my studies” as my relevant reason. Of course I didn’t attend o their wedding. Indeed, I went to London on the day they married, bringing my lilac dress along. One day, after six months. Another one of my closest friend, Karen, unexpectedly saw me at a park in London. We warmly hugged and greet each other.

“How’s Chloe?” I asked.

Karen shook her head, sighing.

“She’s dead.”

I was speechless.

“That Chad is really a playboy. He was with a young lady two months after their marriage, and poor Chloe saw them dating at a cafe. She saw that lady was wearing the same lilac coloured dress as hers. That night, when she was back from work, she saw them lying on their bed, naked. It really drove her crazy. She cut her own lilac dress madly, and Chad tried to stop her when he was awake. But it was too late; the dress was already in pieces. She screamed ‘You liar, we’re over!’ and dived to the ground from their apartment.”

Luckily I did bring my lilac dress along, I thought.

簡単な料理！－番茄香肠蛋公仔面

蒜头1瓣，剁碎
鸡蛋1个
番茄2个，切丁
香肠1条，切丁
快熟面1块
水1碗
盐，鸡精，生抽，胡椒各适量
香菜适量（随意）

把面烫熟，捞起，然后盛在碗里。
将蒜头爆香，然后加入香肠炒香；之后加入鸡蛋，炒散，再加入番茄拌炒。
把水倒入炒好的食材，加入盐，鸡精，生抽，煮滚。
最后，把煮好的汤倒入面中，加入胡椒及香菜，即可食用。

Well, I know it is a sin(you know we are still in old creation) for saying that, but I really have to say it out: I hate a person who thinks that he/she is very smart, but in the end he/she gave us nothing but bull shits(sorry for that taboo), just like my SHE 101 project group leader.
we met together at our first meeting. She was trying to show that she is smart(yes it's a SHE, and she's a MALAY) and she was trying to give quotes to us that she wanted to be the leader. Being tired to be leader, we let her to hold that post.
BUT this morning, I found that I SHOULDN'T let her to hold that post.
First, she took the project for granted. She was not worried about that project, not even a short briefing after our first meeting when almost EVERYBODY were busy about it, and BOTH me and another Chinese lady were waiting about it.
Second, she is FOOLISH enough that she didn't know what the purpose for the meeting this morning is. She was the only person who was late for that meeting, walking slowly and at the moment she sat down, she looked at me, and I looked at her for a few seconds, and she asked me:

WHAT THE...?(cold sweating) HOW DARE YOU ASKED ME THAT STUPID QUESTION, EH? HOW DARE...HOW DARE YOU?
It was SO SAD that I have to take over her post.
As the meeting was going on, I asked her: "Do you have the backup of the project plan and draft that was handed to the lecturer few weeks ago?"
"oh," she said casually,"I'd deleted it."
WHAT? YOU DELETED IT?
"Then, how about the hardcopy?" I was trying to suppress my anger.
"It's with the lecturer."
"Had you photocopied it and keep it for ourselves?"
"No."
GOOD HEAVENS! YOU DIDN'T PHOTOCOPIED IT? I'VE NEVER SEEN THAT STUPID LEADER BEFORE! SO STUPID THAT SHE DIDN'T HAVE A BACKUP, NOT EVEN A HARDCOPY FOR OURSELVES! DON'T YOU KNOW THAT THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT OF US? HUH? DON'T YOU KNOW THAT? OH, SO STUPID! SO FOOLISH! SO AWKWARD! SO BRAINLESS! YOU BITCH! YOU SERPENT! YOU PIG!(puffing)
"Er... do we suppose to meet with that lecturer again?"
OH COME ON LADY! WE ARE GONNA HAND IN THE PROJECT NEXT WEEK! WHY WE HAVE TO MEET HIM LAST MINUTE? DON'T YOU KNOW IT'S TOO LATE?
"You just do it if you want to," lan de geng ta shuo zhe me duo. "And we have to finish this on this Thursday."
"How about Friday?"
"No, Thursday," I replied, still in anger but still suppressing my anger, "we have to be fast."

Food I'd Enjoyed in Kuching(1)

1. Kueh Chap

We went to the Foo Lan Shen (opposite Klinik Tanah Putih)on the second day in Kuching.My big auntie is making her kueh chap business there and her kueh chap is still taste good. My third auntie is also makes her kuah chap business at kin ming cafe near sekama, taste not bad too.

2. the food that represents Kuching --- KOLO MEE!!!

I'd eaten this on my third day in Kuching which was tapaoed from 欢乐园 hawker stall at Tabuan Jaya's Market. It size is large and sumptuous.

Oh, remember to enjoy the Kolo mee with this --- red chilies preserved with vineger.

3. Chicken rice in Chic King's Restaurant, Petanak, taste ok.

4. Cheese and mushroom fettucine at SCR, Jalan Song (the worst thing I'd eaten ever!!!)

At the moment I look at this plate, I said to myself, 'Oh no oh no, this must be taste bad.' See the red things? These were actually the Char siaw bits! that looks like the leftover char siaw or the remains after they'd sliced that char siaw. The pasta was not cooked properly as I could feel the 'floury' taste, the gravy was tasteless, and the worst thing is --- the gravy was mixed with the water which had been used for cooking the pasta (see the watery liquid)! I was totally regret for ordering this dish, yucks!

5. Sarawak laksa

I feel disappointed about the Sarawak laksa nowadays. I had my first bowl of laksa after arrived in Kuching at Kim Ming's cafe,Sekama, which was quite nice ages ago. Well, most of the Kuchingnites know that the soup (or the gravy) is the most important part to judge whether the laksa tastes good, sadly, I couldn't feel the taste of the spices in the soup, it tasted like water plus salt plus chili paper. Even though I added in more belacan was also tasteless, and they had cut the shrimps ( yes the prawns were small) were cut into half.
My second bowl of laksa was at the coffee shop next to the 'hao kou fu', Sekama, the prawns were bigger, the suop was ok, but the overall was not satisfying. My third one was at 'ho min yuen', Hui Sing, tasteless.

Blacks…

I find that I like to choose dark colours for my clothing recently.

Almost 90% of my shirts are black this year. I had two black blouses, one navy blue blouse, one black spaghetti singlet, three black t-shirts, and one olive green blouse to wear when I was in Penang. In Kuching, I have worn 6 black shirts and one navy blue t-shirt during outing, and I have two more black shirts from my mum to bring to Penang later.

This afternoon, me and my mum, my younger sisters, my aunt went to several boutiques like Runway, BingFen, JS, JP, etc for clothes hunting. I was hunting for the office wear for the presentations in uni and my very first of my target colour is always BLACK, second is navy blue, third is dark brown, then next is dark purple or maroon.

"Why you always choose black?" my mum asked after we brought my aunt back. "Don't I'd given you two black shirts?"

Well…

Number one, black makes me look fairer as I'm getting darker and darker after studying in Penang.

Number two, black makes me look skinnier as I'm getting fatter after studying in Penang and after spending several days in Kuching, too much goodies in Penang and too much yummies in Kuching.

Number three, black makes me look more matured as I'm a childish girl and I'm already 20 years old.

Number four, black makes me look more like a pro as dunno why(!?).

Number five, black makes me look smarter and more brainy as I'm not clever enough.

And number six, black makes me look more confident as I'm not confident enough.

I have to admit that the reasons above are sounds stupid, and yet only these are my real answers. I had tried white shirts this afternoon, but I found that white does not suit me, and it will be one of the no-noes for me to wear pinky cloths. I HATE PINK!

Even though I like to choose black shirts, black is NOT my favourite colour, so don't think that my favourite colour is black.

7:oo a.m..

Last night I packed my stuffs till 1:00 a.m., so lazy to wake up, but since I had some more things to pack up, I had no choice.

This is the only window in my room, and it is DAMN small.

My bookshelf. Now it is empty.

My wardrobe. Now it is empty.

The process of emptying my room was taken for a whole morning. After throwing my box, which was filled with my things, into a store, I took a shower and went to Subaidah for brunch (Thosai and iced milk tea, not in a good mood to eat).

Then I went to Kedai Mahasiswa (the co-op) and bought some souvenirs for my family. It took about an hour choosing them (I am not good in decision making).

Then I went back to my ancient room for my final revision for the deathly HBT 100, again, I could not concentrate on it, tak muat dah. Memory full.

Then I went to DUP with my course-mate. There, our topic was ‘shinu’, which means ‘die’.

‘Shinemasu,’ (die).

‘Watashitachi ni shinemasu,’ (we die).

‘Shin de kudasai.’ (please die).

‘Shinemashyo’…

We knew we were dying (regarding the HBT 100). At the moment we went out from the exam hall…

‘Taihen da!!!’, ‘Shinemasuta!!!’, ‘Watashitachi ni shinemasuta!!!’

That paper is totemo muzukashii desu, I did not finish doing it.

And YET, we went to KFC celebrating the freedom after several weeks of exam.

I felt regret after noticed all of my tomodachi had ordered snack meal as I ordered Zinger Max combo(the size is miniature, totemo chishaii desu).

That's San Jing's , eating half way...
And that's Ming Wei's after the rest of us were almost finishing our food.

That made me more regret.

Then it was time to take pictures!

If the International House is rated five stars (the only hostel which air-cond facility is provided for foreign students and postgraduades), and the RST is rated four stars, this room should be rated 3 ½ stars!

But what I hate is…

Its fire alarm rang in the midnight!!! And it rang for about 1 hour plus 26 mins.

Recently I get a comment from a friend that my posts are boring.
And yes I agree with her,
because I can feel the 'dryness' of my brain while I am blogging,
and I am too emphasis about the grammatical thing.
Actually I didn't even touch my blogs (not even window live spaces) for ages.

The mains reasons are:
1. I was busy at that time
2. I am lazy to blog even when I'm free
3. I don't really like blogging

You might ask me why I still blog since you don't really like blogging. Well it's because I am facing exams now and I am getting more stressful as the day for sitting the deathly HBT 100 is drew nearer. Yes I should to sit down and take my notes to read, and I have tried to do so, but I just cannot concentrate on it, I feel like I want to chop them (the notes, the books, and some ppl) into pieces, so I use my blogs to post some childish essays which look like sort of essays for exam purposes (or homeworks???) and purposely use the hard-to-read fonts to release my stress (and just for fun, of course).

Actually I know that I posted the lousy, childish posts since ages ago after reading my archives one day, so I didn't blog much. My brain is aging and it becomes 'dryer' .

Lastly, for those who thinks that my posts are lousy, just ignore this as I use this for putting my crazy thinking. THANKS!!!!!!

Shame on the Malaysian University Students

This morning, after sitting the TITAS paper, I went back to my hostel to get my wallet. Went I went to the staircase, I noticed this:

Sigh…

At first I was thinking, maybe someone had mistaken the 'tudung', so the person who wrote the notice above should not be aggressive and did that such an un-rational way.

On the other hand, I was wondering why that person who wrote this, as a university student, has to ask a bomoh to give a 'nice lesson' such as giving jinxes to the person who had stolen her tudung? I can't imagine that we are now in the 21^st century, and yet there are some people who have obtained a high education, are still using the illogical ways to solve problems and do something else, no wonder we have a course named 'critical thinking'.

She should not use the methods that were used from her ancestors or the methods that were used a few decades ago to solve the problem. She should do something logical like go to the Jabatan Keselamatan or to find the officer of the hostel to get back her thing.

As for the person who really had stolen her thing, I think this is the most shameful one among all of the Malaysian university students. Stealing should not be happened in universities, no matter the things stolen are priceless or vise versa. Remember that we had received moral education or Islamic educations for Muslims for 6 years in primary school and 5 or 6 years in secondary school, so added up is 11 or 12 years and we MUST know VERY WELL that stealing is a sinful act and it is a crime and yet it can be still happened in universities, so as the other crimes such as vandalism, cheating, etc.

How Malaysia can fulfill the 'Wawasan 2020' if the young generations, especially the university students, are still using the ridiculous acts to solve their problems?

Last night I get a news from some of my friends that the flight time for 18 November 07 is changed from 9:10 p.m. to 5:40 p.m..

So I quickly phoned my mum to ask her to help me to get my real flight time from my cousin who helped to book the air ticket because I had changed my hand phone number 3 months ago and I had gave her my previous number for booking the air ticket.

Before I got my mum for help, I switched on my laptop to get the AirAsia's phone number from its website. To my dismay,That stupid USMHotspot could not be connected to my laptop!!! What the (censored)!!!

Later, I got a phone call from my Dad. He said he did not want to ask my cousin regarding the flight time as he thought that she may thinks that me and my family are fussy, so he asked me to solve it myself.

So I asked Zhe Rong to get the phone number and he gave me 2 tel numbers from his SMS. At the moment I got it, I quickly dialed the numbers given. However, What I heard was:

"The number you had dialed is not in service. Please try again later."

(Censored censored censored censored censored censored…)

STUPID USMHOTSPOT!!! STUPID AIRASIA!!!
